Photographer's Note

A view of the Domplatz or Cathedral Square in the Bavarian town of Bamberg, Germany.

In the background can be seen the Alte Hofhaltung, residence of the bishops of Bamberg in the 16th and 17th centuries. On the left out of frame is the Romanesque/Gothic cathedral built during the thirteenth century. Facing the Alte Hofhaltung and also out of frame is the Neue Residenz (New Residence) (1698–1704), which was initially occupied by the prince-bishops, and from 1864 to 1867 by the deposed King Otto of Greece.
