Photographer's Note

View from Fockenstein summit (1562 m), near Bad Wiessee and Tegernsee. The area is the setting of Ludwig Thoma's novels about poachers and farmers in the 19th century. On a sunny afternoon, loads of people were literally queueing to get to the little guesthouse/cottage below the summit. We had picknick at the top, then descended along the path that's visible in the picture. And, since there are no other inns on that path, we were all alone there.
Just out of sight, the path turns left into "Stinkergraben" (stinking trench), so called because of the sulfur springs that create a very distinct smell.
pp: cropped out of a larger view, levels adjusted, contrast and unsharp mask (0,3/100).
