Photographer's Note

Doesn't it look as if this guy is pointing his camera right between the two cars? And he probably is. The red car on the right is Michael Schumacher accelerating away from the hairpin curve at the Hockenheim Ring at approximately 200 kmh, and the car on the left is Kimi Raikkonen breaking down from 320 kmh before taking the hairpin at 60 kmh. So amateur photographers have to work fast.
The time is the German Grand Prix 2004 somewhere around the tenth lap. A few laps later The MacLaren-Mercedes crashed out of the race which Schumacher then won. But at this point it was a real chase.
I have cropped and resized - but the most difficult part was finding one of the 250 photos taken that day with a story to tell. Hope this one has that.
