Photographer's Note

The Kunstakademie is an academy and exhibition building in Dresden. It is the seat of the Academy of Fine Arts Dresden. It is situated in the old town of Dresden on the river Elbe and belongs to Brühl's Terrace, a 500m long terrace stretching high above the shore of the River Elbe. The building of sandstone was built from 1887 to 1894, decoration on the facade is exceptionally rich with numerous sandstone reliefs and partly gilded figures.
On the top of the building is a glass dome, called "lemon squeezer".

Today the building is accessible to the public.
Students are taught in different buildings in Dresden, at the academy of arts there are faculties for painting, free graphic arts, sculpture, new media and, in addition, such studies as restoration of works of art, scenography and costumes, theater equipment and art therapy.
