... the German Democratic Republic.

Born in 1992, I've never witnessed it, but they said it was neither democratic nor a republic in the meaning of a res publica in which the really important affairs of the people were being dealt with.

Only German. However, they've got good ice cream.

Taken in Ribnitz-Damgarten, near the Baltic Sea, in 1998, eight years after the German reunification.
Germany recently celebrated the fact that the period since the Berlin Wall and iron curtain have been reopened (and later torn down) is now longer than the time when they were intact and separated two parts of one nation.

Nations develop, and people develop as well. That lovely redhead is a M.Eng. now...

Nice composition and the boy hair colours are matching perfectly with the whole picture. A kind of Sepia coloured picture giving a nice taste of nostalgia of the past.
The boy’s face expression is fantastic.

Hello Sven,
It's a nice photo of the little boy, long before he started his advanced studies. His hair matches almost everything around him, including the door, the lower letterbox and the tiles of the pavement. I guess that was not a coincidence.
