Palace Symmetry

I haven’t finished with Berlin yet, but while we were staying in Berlin, we also visited the town of Potsdam, the capital of the state of Brandenburg. In the morning we visited the Sanssouci Park, which was created in the middle of the 18th century, when Frederick the Great built several palaces in this area, including the one in this photo, Neues Palais (New Palace). It was completed in 1769 as the last Prussian Baroque palace. Along with several other parks and palaces in the region it has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1990.

Hej Lars,
Jag gillar att du har kapat bilden på båda sidorna så att vi inte kan se hur stort palatset är. Det blir på något sätt ännu större och mer imponerande då, när fantasin får fritt spelrum. Jag kanske hänger upp mig på små detaljer, men det är faktiskt killarna med cykeln som gör bilden levande för mig. Symmetrin och det perfekta ljuset och färgerna är också väldigt trevliga.

Hello Lars, my neighbour today.
That is an amazing palace, and as you quite rightly say, perfect symmetry.
Imagine going to the trouble of creating statues for each pediment, and on the roof where no-one can really get up close!
Even the gold statues on the top of the dome are delightful.
It is a beautiful building, accompanied by interesting notes.
Looks great in the large version.

Hi Lars,

The trees are sending my eyes towatd the palace which is creating depth. The point of view is showing the details of the architecture of the Neues Palace. The light is giving good colours rendering. Have a nice day.

Lars, the palace is perfectly centered, it creates a pleasant symmetry. It is a wonderful building surmonted by a massive dome. Its facade is ornated with numerous sculptures and reliefs. Fine colors, good sharpness, regards.

Great picture with this fabulous facade. Beautiful details and colors. You was lucky with few people in front of the palace but at same time giving life to the scene. Very atractive place and a wel done photo.

Hello Lars, The New Palace is not so often visited in Potsdam as Sans Souci. Fantastic symmetry and striking sharpness allowing to see many beautiful details in a large format. Nice scene with the bikers.
I was there in 1973, I remember how I was impressed by the interiors.

Hallo Lars,
Een prachtig paleis met een overvloed aan architecturale versieringen, o.a. een rij standbeelden onderaan en bovenaan de gevel en nog eens op de top van de koepel.
De rode kleur geeft een charmant gevoel en zorgt ervoor dat de foto samen met het blauw in de lucht en het groen onderaan vrij kleurrijk wordt.

Ah oui ! la façade présentée de cette façon nous saute aux yeux avec cet effet de répétition du meilleur effet architectural.
La coupole centrale couverte de cuivre vieilli donne encore plus de force à cet édifice impressionnant.

Hello Lars,

A beautiful building, in perfect symmetry, even from the guiding, gravel roadway! Only the introduction of the figures and their bicycles interrupt the symmetry, but they are very well included as they animate and scale your photograph.

At first, I was attracted very much by the colours and the elongated windows but then, I noticed the whole array of statues decorating the roof area! Amazing!

Hi Lars,
I remember well this place because it was a first trip which I took with my girlfriend who turned later to be my wife.
I took a lot of photos of her with this new palace, sadly I didn't take much without her -so I cannot post it on TE.
You had a lovely weather -the colors were well pronounced. Central symmetry works well here. It is a great place but I remember it was a lot of walking so renting a bike is a good idea.

Dat is weer een mooi plaatje, Lars. Potsdam stond ook nog even op ons lijstje, maar we zijn er uiteindelijk niet geraakt. Het zal voor een volgende gelegenheid zijn. Knappe foto.

Goedenavond Lars,

U presenteert ons zo mooi dit gebouw, deze voorgevel lijkt mij uniek.
Uw foto is zeker goed genomen, we krijgen een zeer wijdt beeld.
Het valt op de we weinig mensen zien, maar volgens de datum waren we in coronatijd.
Goed foto werk, bedankt.

The returning pattern of the arch-windows all across the facade , and the great scale achieved with the people up front, statues on the roof and the dome.

Magnificent facade of the Postdam Palace, very elegant contrast in that combination of reddish and beige of the facade, the large dome gives it a lot of personality. Great profusion of sculptures.
Very effective coloring, which highlights the details of the image.
Good management, both in terms of brightness and sharpness.
