Photographer's Note
Kulturforum – Berlijn.
Of course, museum observations are not missing during our visit to Berlin.
Fortunately, most museums were reopened after the first lockdown.
So put on face masks and keep enough distance. Now the latter is rarely a problem in German museums because it is usually not very busy and certainly in this Covid period it was very quiet.
Next to the Museum Island, the Kultuurforum is the cultural center of Berlin, located on Potsdamer Straße in the Berlin-Tiergarten district. Here you will find a number of museums, the Philharmonie and the State Library. We visited the Gemäldegalerie, the Kupferstichkabinett and the Kunstgewerbemuseum. These museums are interconnected and accessible with one ticket.
In the first photo that I place as a crowd puller, we see a charming LADY with RED mouth mask who is attentively studying a work from the exhibition Pop on Paper in the Kupferstichkabinett.
In the background (which is why I chose this photo as the main photo) the famous work of Andy Warhol with the image of Marilyn Monroe.
Photos 2 and 3 show two works of art from 2 different times and therefore in very different styles, but in terms of theme there is a certain connection in my opinion.
In photo 2 we see a visitor thoroughly studying the triptych “The Last Judgment” by Lucas Cranach the Elder. Cranach is said to have painted this work after seeing Hieronymus Bosch's The Last Judgment in Flanders. This work is in the Gemäldegalerie.
The 3rd photo was taken again at the Pop on Paper exhibition and shows a young lady studying the mural size painting by James Rosenquist “F111”.
“F-111 was painted in the middle of one of the most turbulent decades in US history. The fighter-bomber it depicts was, at the time, in the planning stages, and Rosenquist understood its mission to be as economic as it was military—to create jobs for Americans and support the country’s gross national product. He characterized the imagery of the painting as “a plane flying through the flak of an economy,” with the little girl under the metallic hairdryer as its pilot; he described its underwater diver in more ominous terms, as evocative of humans gasping for air during an atomic holocaust.” (Source https://www.moma.org)

Goedenavond Rob,
Bedankt.
Groeten uit onstuimig Vlaanderen met regen.

Hi Rob,
You have captured well the concentration of the woman. The point of view is showing the details of the paintings. The colours of the clothings of the person is contrating well with the colours of the paintings. Have a nice dya.

Hello Rob,
Three good photos of more or less fantastic paintings, but the lady in red next to another lady in red qualified for the main photo. You had a choice of showing her watching Marilyn, or to show her magnificent face mask, so this was the most amusing decision.
I would have been convinced that the Cranach painting was really by Bosch, so this was a surprise. I would probably have spent most time watching the Rosenquist painting. It looks like the most interesting one and the photo may be the most elegant composition, but unfortunately the young lady wasn't properly dressed (no matching colours).
Have a nice evening,
Gert

Hi Rob,people and artworks in this great report from Berlin Kulturforum. Unmbistakable Marilyn painted by Warhol in front of the lady with with red musk, perfect choice for the main post, but i like a lot the 1st WS too,an original way to paint the last judgement,i'm not an art expert but it seems a kitch version of a naif painting..ehhe...perfect quality and original perspectives as usual,i like it! Have a nice evening and thanks,Luciano

Hallo Rob,

Hi Rob
Another good art trio. I saw the Marilyn Munro series in MOMA, New York in 2015 a very impressive series. The woman in the red mask provided a great foreground.
cheers

Hello Rob, three excellent shots from your visits to the museums and galleries. I think that you selected the right one for the main post. The unmistakeable Warhol prints immediately attract our attention, and the woman standing off centre with her red mask is perfect.
She looks to one side, I wonder what she was actually looking at.
Kind regards, Jean.

Hello Rob,
I love this!
I don't see the young lady as studying the Warhol pictures; I think she has studied them and is concentrating on keeping her distance, whilst internalising how Marilyn would pose. Or, is Marilyn watching her, tall and confident!
The w/s pictures are very different. One is smooth elongated, modern, the other creates a sense of chaos! I can see the effects of Hieronymus Bosch!
You must have had lots of pleasure studying these and the few figures sharing the museum with you. As always, your artistry shines through.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hallo Rob,
Vele groeten, Paul

Hallo Rob, that visitor of the cultural center seems lost in thought in front of so many interesting artworks exhibited. She wears the anti coronavirus mask that become common everywhere. The Marylin Monroe paintings form a superb background. Fine colors, good sharpness, regards.

Hi Rob,
The Andy Warhol pop art featuring repetitive images of Marilyn Monroe in different hues, is unmistakable. Good inclusion of the inquisitive fg observer. Tfs!

living in a small town it is difficult for me to visit museums, only when I am travelling.. a nice view of the famous Marylins of warhol. an idea transformed in art, another artist would be very creative using this tool and escaping of being a simple copy of warhol..
