Photographer's Note
Red (and Green)
No reflections today, nor the Fernsehturm, but just a simple photo of the tower of the Rotes Rathaus (Red Town Hall) in Berlin. What appealed to me here was the contrast with the green traffic light in the foreground. The photo was taken from quite a distance, as I was still standing near the Berlin Cathedral.
The Rotes Rathaus is home to the Regierender Bürgermeister (governing mayor) of Berlin and the Berlin Senate. It was built in the 1860s and designed by Hermann Friedrich Waesemann in Renaissance Revival style.
I added a photo of the entire front façade as a WS, which also includes the Neptunbrunnen (Neptune Fountain) located in the middle of the square in front of the town hall (https://i1.trekearth.com/photos/12257/1239ws._red_and_green.jpg).

Hej Lars,

Vele groeten, Paul

Hi Lars,
The trees are framing well the tower. The point of view is showing the details of the clock tower. The light is giving nicve tints to the colours. Have a nice day.

Lars, the red town hall tower is bathed by an afternoon golden light. It stands out by its color and its shape. It comprises a clock and a flag, the crane is small compared to it. Fine colors, good sharpness, regards.

Hi Lars
yes, you had to have been far away because there's no lens distortion with the tower. this is great, love the tower and its dark reds, if you take away the round clocks it looks like something from a horror movie. Looks very Medeival-like
awesome. cheers

Bonjour, cher ami Lars,

HI Lars
Am I right in assuming that this was taken late afternoon to get that great colour on the tower? A good distant photo.

An extraordinary red-bricks tower, Lars, and a beautiful big clock mounted on (probably) its four sides.
The Rotes Rathaus itself is an impressive large building and the tower prominently seen from far sides.
Have a nice new day,

Hi Lars!
I know the rote Rathaus very well, my brother is living not far from there.
The evening light provides wonderful red tones.
I like the workshop foto too.

Hi Lars
Looks a bit 'ancient' but makes a solid and rich image though and very impressive in its own way. Wonderful dimension in this wonderful composition and inclusion of the small green light is an extra bonus. Excellent shot,

Hi Lars,
The close up of the tower allows us to better appreciate the elaborate architecture of the town hall. You have photographed it in a warm rays of the setting sun, which even further enhanced the redness of the tower.
I am glad that you showed also the wider context in the workshop, I already forgot how it looked like. But I see when you reached that point the sunshine was quite limited.
That is one of the challenges of a city tour that you cannot be everywhere in optimal conditions.
Excellent work here,
M

Hello Lars,
I am pleased that you showed us the photograph of the Red Town Hall in its entirety so that we could understand to what this tower belonged. But, like you, I would have chosen this as the main post just because of the strength of the impact and its rarity as a composition.
I like the idea of ... go ahead and view this rather striking building.
Have a good day,
Bev :-)

Dag Lars,
Uw foto toont hier heel mooi bij avond licht het stadhuis.
Met klok en uitzicht toren heel boven.
De bouwkraan was niet echt het mooiste project maar heden ten dage zijn het een en al bouwkranen in de steden
Algemeen goed foto werk, bedankt.
Groeten uit Vlaanderen,
John

Dag Lars
A few seconds later you could have titled Red and Red and Red!
I'm afraid that such a beautiful building will have to play low profile in the coming year given the new construction expanding in the near vicinity!
Thanks for the spot-on exposure in low light.

Hello Lars, a good idea to isolate the tower from the rest of the building; we can concentrate on the fine details. It is a very impressive tower.
Thanks for the w/s picture with the fountain in the foreground, interesting to see the entire Town Hall that puts the tower into context.
I like the inclusion of the green traffic light.
Kind regards, Jean.

Hi Lars,
The portrait format works well here to emphasise the height of this elegant tower. It appears that the low sun has intensified the redness of the tower, as well as bringing out its details. A pity the crane was in the way, but that seems to be a common thing in European cities. It seems that there is a law stating that there must be a crane in front of every iconic building.

Hej Lars,
Nice timing to catch the green traffic light as a contrast with the predominantly red brick clock tower. Excellent sharpness and framing. Tfs!

Hi Lars.
The photos of the Old City Hall are very good, although I would have put the WS one as the main one, where we see the whole complex and the beautiful fountain, I cannot distinguish well the construction material to give this red, although I lean towards brick.
Wonderful colors, excellent sharpness and splendid light.
Very well done. I like very much.
You have a good day.
Very best regards.
Luis.
