As oppressed and dreary as it was, there are people who actually miss the days of a divided Berlin. Younger generations are curious about the past and can't imagine how controlled their parents and grandparents must have been. There is an underlying nostalgia for all things Soviet including the wall, Check Point Charlie, and even the uniforms and rubber stamping of papers necessary for any movement within the former East Berlin. This gentleman (and his mannequin) makes his daily bread by posing with tourists for a few Euros a snap. I cropped, desaturated and posterized the main subject. Then I blurred the background, added the text and shot it full of holes. The buildings and monuments of Berlin today bear many scars of it's violent past. Here is an example.
