Photographer's Note
Rue de Bievre, 5ème arrondissement.
At Notre Dame,on the left / south bank of the River Seine turn your back on the cathedral and look towards the latin quarter and you will see some beautiful side lanes, like this one.
The street layout in this part of the city is medieval, hence the narrow width and shape of the lane.
I took this in early afternoon on a winter's day. This scan from a print does not show the luminescence of the original (the buildings on the left are a bit "flat", while there are wonderful reflecions of the sunlight on the original). I'm sure you get the idea of what this place is like, however!

Beauriful color and light. Nice framing too. As for the luminescence, I have the same problems with some of my photos. I have one like this that I never posted because I'm not happy with the result on screen. But I think you're right - as long as people can get the idea...

I like the lightings, the texture and color tones here. Also nice to see vertical patterns are curving the way. But a bit busy narrow street with the car parking over the platform and a garbage bin were somehow distracting. A bit dark on the left. Overall, a good shot.

I like very much how the sunlight is on the left side of the picture and the way that it is creating the shadows. The symmetry of the composition is fantastic. Congratulations.

Good restitution of the narrow streets of Paris before the arrival of "Baron Haussmann " ( well done colors )

Great shot, Paul. I like the architecture of this old narrow street. You captured the sunlight perfectly. Well done.

I guess you lost out on some details after the scan but still I like the light fall on the buildings. Am sure it must look prettier in the original. Looks like its taken from the first floor. Maybe I would have taken this from the ground level.

Beautiful light and colour. I like you composition and angle. What a beautiful street. Nice details.
The car maybe feels a bit distracting, but that's just details.
Great shot!
