Photographer's Note
I continue this visit of the old Rennes. After the Cathedral, now the old walls. Prying is not all. One must defend itself from the invador at Middle Ages ! At this time, Rennes is the capital of te knigdom of Brittany and not only a provincial town of France, getting orders from Paris.
In this black-and-whited shot for the old side, we can see the entering town door. Today there is less the old town can offer, well, there are nice lanes and streets, but Rennes was a quite big city and the XVIIIth fire made the wood town a small district.
'Mordelaises' means 'from Mordelles' a town situated at the west of Rennes. And 'portes' means 'doors'. The 'doors that lead to Mordelles'.
I will make a new Monumental Rennes theme. So let's shoot, visitors and people who are passing by this town !

Salut david

Nice shot David, a good dynamic effect of the curve lines leading the eye to the point of interest.
I like also your BW, great gray tones!

Salut David,
Nice place, I like the stone wall and its different windows. Good POV and lightness.

Bonsoir David,

I keep coming to your black-and-white photos, David. This one is again a very nice motive with the narrow passageway from Rennes. The curving cobblestone path between the old houses provides a timeless scenery, and I think you did a fine job balancing the exposure with the varying intensity of light across your frame. I like it.

Cher David,

It seems towngates was a "must" some 400 years ago - In some Danish towns can the old gates still be seen for instance Faaborg. I like the sight of the street - thanks David for sharing this and the fine note.

An attractive shot of this old street. The black and white treatment suits it well, especially given your historical note. Possibly a bit overexposed at the top of the frame.

Serwus David !
This is a kind of historic street that I love so much. I have been travelling through Your country, but I didn't visit Rennes. Well, now I know what I missed :)
Thanks to Your photos I got opportunity for a walk there :)
B/w work well here, good point of view, dynamic composition and fine details.
Best wishes,
Mat

This is a ncie picture of an interesting old street. It's full of character. perhaps a person, walking in the street would give it a focal point of interest and scale. regards kevin
