Photographer's Note

Paris.
A small building, rue Chaligny.
Third floor.
View from the landing window.

New year's eve.
A cloudy sky, shaken bt the wind. No stars tonight.
Many empty flats, many people away on vacation or just out for the evening. Somehow, somewhere...
A few lights are on. Not faraway.
Some people I may pass on the street, unaware of who they are and where they live.

But why are they here tonight?
Cooking for friends and relatives? Taking champagne bottles out of the fridge? Thinking about their list of good actions to achieve during the next year?
Possibly unresponsive to mandatory jubilation?
Or, even "worse", stuck in front of the telly? Protected from the outside behind their curtains?
All alone.
Home alone.
