It is still possible to enjoy the mountains in France in Nordic ski areas (cross-country skiing and snowshoeing), the downhill ski slopes being closed ... due to the pandemic, of course!
Here, a skating enthusiast sliding among the grandiose scenery of the Val d'Azun mountains.
A very probable confinement is announced in France ... and concerning the Nordic ski areas, we imagine that logically they will close.

Hello Jean, In Poland, all the ski facilities are closed. HAha, in fact, it was the reason that my son took my granddaughter for winter holidays to Africa, as one of the few safe places, and he took his old mother with him:).

Seeing this lonely skier it's hard to understand why an area like this could possibly be considered dangerous (unless you breathed heavily at him). Before the next lockdown we can enjoy the beauty of this scenery and the well placed skier who animates the view with a strong expression of speed and vigour. You composed the photo perfectly and it's also technically superb.

Hello Jean,

We don't know if the virus can exist at such low temperatures, or I haven't heard about it! Maybe the skiers would be safe because of the cold temperatures!

This is an excellent shot.
It was possible to appreciate the fine composition, even in the thumbnail!
The strongly positioned skier, dressed in blue and red, stands out remarkably well against the surrounding grey hues.
The tracks make a very natural, inwards guide line, whilst the sunlight and shadows clearly reveal the different textural effects on the snow's surfaces.

Bonjour Jean,
fantastic capture! The landscape itself is so beautiful but the person skiing into the frame adds so much life, color and action here.
You have captured him in a great pose as well.
Judging by the fact it was on the slope, you must have been skiing as well. I always wonder whether it is safe to take a big expensive camera while skiing because it is so easy to fall. But this may have been just a cross country skiing which is safer I suppose,

It sounds so wrong that you can't enjoy outdoor activities on such a peaceful place. And skiing cross country you don't even need to wait in queues. Beautiful high mountain winter landscape with excellent sidelight.

That would be a nice terrain to do some XC skiing! I did that in my younger days, and now I caught my elder son to follow my steps, except for his skating style while I used the conservative nordic diagonal style - of the right lane in your beautiful image.

Given the possibility of closure, this skier does it in off-piste areas, but it seems that there is good snow, at least the landscape looks wonderful.

This is a pretty winter scene. We just got a lot of snow here in NYC, but it's a big mess, and it's not so white anymore! The skier adds a splash of color and more life to the scene. Take care!
