Photographer's Note
April Fools’ Day—celebrated on April 1 each year—has been celebrated for several centuries by different cultures, though its exact origins remain a mystery. In France, April 1 tradition is often known as "April fish" (poisson d'avril in French). This includes attempting to attach a paper fish to the victim's back without being noticed.

Hello Claude,
Try to attach a paper fish on that lady's back without being noticed! ;-)
It's a very amusing photo but why was the fish painted on the ground in late July? In any case this is a fairly perfect street photo from above, with her hair matching that of the fish and her shadow falling on the stones. I shouldn't forget to mention the diagonals.
How could you keep this in your archive for nearly six years?
Best regards,
Gert

Ha! Ha! Claude, I read that some parent had told his son that school had reopened and that he had to get up early to get his uniform and books in order, as well as early breakfast! I have no idea how the child reacted!
This is such a well composed photograph!
You have a strong f/g triangle, which the lady is following (with her shadow). She is going upstream whilst the shark is going downstream!
Can you explain why there was a shark in the road? It does seem a strange road image!
Take care,
Bev :-)

Hello Claude,
curious but funny both the day and the habit with the paper fish. My wife managed to fool me again, like every year,
thanks and regards,
Gerrit

Bonjour Claude,
I think I need to do a little catching up!
But this is a brilliant photograph - so clear and sharp and well taken and with such simple and straightforward subjects and composition. I have to confess I'd never heard of "April fish" - so much to learn on TE!
Mind you, I see that your photograph was taken in July and not in April - was this fish a permanent feature on this roadway?
Brilliant!
Stay Safe,
John.

Hello Claude, I didn't know this expression in French. We call it just Prima Aprilis. Superb observation. Strange this fish a bit like an arrow and the girl going barefoot in the opposite direction. Nice light and interesting shadow. Perfect street photo.
Keep away of the coronavirus

Salut Claude,

I have to wonder why the fish is in the road, I thought perhaps pointing to the beach but now se that it was taken in Paris, so I think you'll have to explain.
I like how she travels in one direction and the fish in the other.
