Photographer's Note

I just saw that there are almost 20 000 pictures from Paris on TE. Probably most Trekkers were in Paris and saw Notre Dame Cathedral. and everyone took pictures of it. I think that most of us could not believe that the cathedral was on fire. when I first heard about it twenty past seven, I didn't react at all. There are many Notre Dame Cathedrals in the world. It couldn't be this one. But it was true. I am quite devastated. A great loss for humanity, not only for French people or Catholic. I would be also sad if it was a famous mosque or pagoda.

The famous South Rose window, offered by King St. Louis, was created in 1260. The cathedral's website boasts that its three rose windows "constitute one of the great masterpieces of Christianity". The south rose has a diameter of nearly 13m and is made up of 84 panels. Difficult to imagine that it doesn't exist any more.

Officials said that both bell towers remain intact. It seemed that it wouldn't be possible to save the towers. Brave firemen. They were heroes.
