Pruniers castle.

One sight.
Other sight.

The austere and powerful silhouette of Pruniers castle of the 11th 12th 14th 15th centuries, altered with the Renaissance, is on left bank of Gartempe.
It is a private property restored as from 1969.

One finds there a dovecote, pigeonnier, with 1024 boxes or boulins, going back to 1015, perhaps oldest of France.

One can see thers a decoration made of geometrical arabists drawings, coloured of red, black and yellow, the only nonreligious mural painting of the VALLEY of the FRESCOS.

The VALLEY of GARTEMPE RIVER concentrates from Montmorillon to Saint-Savin, in Vienna, several builbings decorated with frescos of the 14th century, and is called for that, the FRESCOS VALLEY.

Gartempe is a river of Poitou and of the Limousin, which takes its source close to the village of Pétillat, the commune of Peyrabout in the department of Creuse, and is thrown in the Creuse river close of "la Roche-Posay" in the department of Vienne, after a way of almost 200 kilometers. It crosses remarkable canyons in granitic landscapes, downstream from "Les Portes de l'Enfer", "The Hell Doors” to Lathus in Vienne.

Pindray is a french commune, located in the department of Vienne of the Poitou-Charentes area, populated of 258 Pindraysiens en 1999, divided on 27 km², that is to say 10 hab./km².
