Church of Saint-Maixent, Empuré

The rural and romanesque church Saint-Maixent of the 12th century in Empuré, was classified historic building on May 9th, 1914.
The vault has collapsed, but vestiges of wall paintings from de Middle Ages have been uncovered in the chancel. The tabernacle altar dates from the 18th century.

A church moreover, among the churches of the 36,000 french communes, which count each one at least one of these buildings. The french christian worship buildings are estimated at 100,000. wikipedia.

EMPURÉ is a french commune, located in the department of Charente of the Poitou-Charentes area, populated of 108 Empuréens in 1999, distributed out of 9 km², that is to say 13 hab./km².
