Photographer's Note

I dedicate this photograph and this thema to our friend John Maenhout (jhm), the artistic specialist in the canals and marshes while advising to him to visit this beautiful area.

I note here the brittleness of banks of the conches; the next storm is likely to be fatal with this poplar, the bank here is gradually nibbled by water and the wind which acts above.
With the storm of 1999 coming from the new continent a great part of the trees were decimated.
The grounds are maintained by the herds cows during spring and summer they are transferred onto these conches in big rafts and each boat can contain seven cows.
See this bull how it is happy in its pantry !
