Old royal abbey Notre-Dame XIIe XVe XVIIe centuries. Conventual buildings.

The unit dominates the valley of "la Belle" river and the French garden, "jardin à la française".

Equipped with a high nave and a bell-tower of XIIe century and XVe century, Notre-Dame church of the XVIIe century of Gothic style, very luminous, shelters in its narthex a gate of Romance style to the poly lobed curves, of XIIe century.

_1032-1095: Foundation by the abbey of Lesterps, in the Limousin, of a priory about saint-Augustin.
_1134-1140: Erection in abbey.
_1470-1477: Rebuilding and compensation for the damages caused by the One hundred year old war.
_1568: Plundering and destruction by the huguenots.
_1651: Fastening with the congregation of the Génovéfains, or "Congrégation de France".
_1669-1682: Rebuilding by the architect François le Duc says Toscane, this text painted in the chorus of the church points out it : « Constructa sub Ludovico XI Destructa ab Hereticis Anno 1568 Anno 1669 restaurata Le Duc dit Toscane ».
_1789-1791: With the Revolution, the abbey becomes national property, the monks are driven out.
_1794-1808: Sold and dispersed goods, damage and fires.
_1846: Beginning of the classifications with the historic buildings, restorations, refittings.

Celles-sur-Belle is a french commune, located in the department of Deux-Sèvres of the Poitou-Charentes area, populated of 3480 Cellois, distributed on 38 km ², that is to say 93 hab. /km ².

a bright and lovely impression, well planned with that POV having the higher parts at the right and some green in front. Good sharpness and excellent captured surface of the church.

Bonjour, cher Joël,
Je pense que l'on ne remercie jamais assez les photographes nous faisant découvrir de telles merveilles. Il faut trouver le sujet, se déplacer, faire de la route, attendre le moment favorable, etc.
Je suis sous le charme, je regarde, je détaille l'architecture, je contemple et admire.
Une photographie pleine de douceur quant à la couleur, des détails parfaitement rendus, une note détaillée à souhait.
Que puis-je demander de plus, rien, sinon, te dire mille mercis pour le partage.

Nétteté étonnante pour cette abbaye reproduite avec son église arrière à coté et du beau pré devant.
La profondeur est garantie par les arbres sur la droite et le POV diagonal.

A nice perspective here, with the beautiful castle in the middle of it. The colors are very natural, clean and crisp, while the picture itself is nicely sharpened. The textures are very fine.

Bonjour Joël,

joli point de vue sur cette Abbaye. On y découvre toute la grandeur de ces batiments sur ce POV bien construit.
Malgré tout je préfère l'éclairage de ta photo en WS que celui-ci sur la pierre.

Bonjour Joël,

Une composition parfaitement équilibrée qui nous montre bien l'ensemble de l'édifice et surtout la façon dont l'église se situe par rapport à l'abbaye. Les arbres sur la droite compensent bien l'absence d'avnat-plan sur le reste de l'image, cette absence mettant ici l'abbaye en évidence. Un ciel nuageux mais juste ce qu'il faut et une pierre superbe. Du bon travail.

Joel, I find it amazing that these beautiful buildings still stand after a thousand years. How many countries have come and gone in this time, just in the past 100 how many have self destructed...?

C'est toujours un réel plaisir d'aller sur ton album qui nous propose de magnifiques pans de notre patrimoine architecturale. Et ce n'est jamais qu'une seule photo mais une série complète sur le sujet. Très belle qualité de l'image ici j'aime beaucoup la netteté accentuant la finesse de la façade. Tu as attendu une belle lumière pour donner un relief intéressant. Belle prise de vue sur l'édifice en WS notamment celle avec la plantation d'arbre qui donne un joli contraste. Beau travail et merci Joël.
