Photographer's Note

Scan of a 1986 slide, cropped (in order to have an eye in the vertical center line - advice of Batalay)and tranferred in B&W. Original picture in WS.
The Bigouden area (part of the French Brittany - Bretagne) is located at the west side of Quimper, and starts from a city named Sainte Marine (Saint Eversmile?) on the bank of the Odet river.
During my 1962 holidays with my parents, many women wore this kind of headdress (height 35 cm). In 1986, only old ladies during some events show this appearence.
We starting laughing when we saw them coming through a door, or seating in a car.....
I would praise the photograph Michel THERSIQUEL (194-2007) who took may great B&W portraits of this "country", and I recommand 2 books: " Une Bretagne profonde" and " Photographes en campagne" - the last one being edited with some of his father pictures. Good gift for Xmas if you order them now, available maybe on www.abebooks/fr
