Photographer's Note

Here is a shot of a wayside cross situated near of the Cathedral. It shows the way leading to the medieval district of Rennes. as said by the title, Brittany is a high place of christianity. Lots of famous clergymen from brittany defended religion in the XIXth century while it was threaten by science : La Mennais, Chateaubriand... After the Falloux law of 1850 that allowed the creation of schools, numerous catholic schools were created in the region.

I don't like this monument but I have to said that I like the shot. The sky higlights the cross as something like mystical. The statue in the bottom right hand corner adds something interesting to me.

What do you think ?

Hi David. I have to agree with you on how good this shot is. The contrast with the cross is superb. Also the sky really adds to the shot. I think the framing of the shot is what really takes this shot to a higher level. Nice one David!

La croix est très placée bien devant ces nuages blancs, ce qui lui donne un air mystique, la lumière du paradis ou quelque chose de similaire.
Mais pou améliorer le cadrage (avis perso) tu aurais pus décaler la croix vers la gauche et ainsi prendre la statue de droite en entier (en règle générale, quand on montre un détail, on le fait en entier ou pas du tout)
Malgré cette remarque j'aime bien cette image

C'est pas mal du tout, bon on peut chipoter, mais la dorure et le bleu du ciel apportent un beau plus à ton image!

I think this is a good shot the crucifix is a really strong focal point of the photo and with the sky background I think it is pretty special.

I am not too keen however on th elower part of the photo. Im not sure why but I just dont think it fits.
