Photographer's Note

Paimpont Abbey is the heart of Broceliande, forest of all Arthurian mythology.

The abbey is the oldest building of the small city.
The first building is builded on the 7th centurty by the King of Dumnonia and St. Judicaël (we can see a reliquary of St. Judicaël inside the Abbey), but it was destroyed during the norman invasions and a second one was built later, also destroyed to make place for the abbey, on the thirteenth century.

But the present appearence comes from profound changes in the seventeenth century.

At the beginning of WW2, the abbey was the place of residence of the mother of General de Gaulle, until is death in 1940
