Photographer's Note
Hello Everyone,
My photograph shows a schist house.
I was fascinated by this property; have you ever seen one before where the facade is constructed of just four slabs of stone.
The building is set back from the lane, up an unmade track, in a small village in Brittany.
There is obviously some proud history associated with this building, as there is a notice, about its construction, attached to the side. I photographed the notice which can be seen in my workshop.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hi Bev,
The trees are framing well the house. The point of view is showing the details of the house. The light is making the colors to stand out. Have a nice day.

Hello Bev,
This is a very picturesque building which makes me think of an equivalent of the red wooden cottages in Stockholm. I wonder if it is as cosy inside as those cottages. It's anyway very nicely placed among trees and hedges and provided you with an obvious photo opportunity.
Kind regards,
Gert

Dear Beverley,
So, these people built panel buildings before it became cool? :) Joking apart, its a nice piece of history and seems to be situated in a picturesque place.
Best Wishes,
Gy.

A humble house seems as occupied, Beverley.
It was probably built before and covered from available coating material like slabs, around 50 or more years ago. My assumptions, merely.
Nice taken from the POV chosen.
Wish you a nice weekend,
Ike

Hello Beverley,
What a lovely little house, built so efficiently with only a few large pieces of stone. The blue door and windows make a fine details as well and I like the pleasant sunlight and the surrounding trees.

Hi Bev,this is the last "living" example of this type of architecture as I can read in the notes, really curious but certainly much easier to build, using unique pieces to make the walls. A very useful post and once again an excellent quality. Have a nice evening and thanks,Luciano

Hi Bev
A good reward to see this after taken a back path. I certainly haven't see anything like it although modern construction often uses huge concrete slabs for fast construction. Thanks for showing us this interesting structure.
cheers

Hi Bev,
Interesting traditionnal architecture with these stones, good angle of view, contrast of light is well managed and captured, good colors also with this blue tone, tfs.

Hi Bev,
I have a feeling they were building much better in the past than these days :)
Nice constrauction indeed although I was rather attracted to the colored door and window.
Very well spotted,

Hello Beverley,
Definitely a very special house.
Clearly more attention has been paid to the decoration of windows and door than to the facades.
Beautiful framing with the greenery.
Best regards, Paul

hello Bev, I had to check what schist could be (learning through TE). This is a kind of rock that is easily split into thin flakes or plates. So probably these slabs are quite thin and ready to use. I have never seen such houses. Nice with the blue door and window.

Hi Bev,
A small building certainly worth preserving and also worth showing here. The wall is special and painted door and window frame look nice too. Good to see that notice explaining history of the place.

I presume the slabs aren't so easy to use and they could be broken during the transportation and installation, but after they were in the position it would be a fast way to build a house. curious sample of architecture.
take care

Hello Beverly,
What a cute little house, are you sure this was not in Middle Earth? I like the information in the WS photo.
