Photographer's Note

There are 2 "cabanes tchanquées" (wooden houses on piles - tchanque = long leg in old gascony language) on the main island (Bird island) of the Arcachon bay At high tide, they are just above the sea level. At low tide, if you get a boat, you can land on the sandy beach and walk close to them. This one has been rebuilt and should become a museum.
A "must" to see when visiting the Arcachon bay!
