Photographer's Note

Medieval site of the fifth to fifteenth centuries, including an important fortified town, three Romanesque churches, two chapels, a priory and a huge fortress to be impregnable.
Completely abandoned and in ruins in 1969, virtually wiped off the map, the whole feudal today as it was almost entirely rebuilt in the Middle Ages. Restored with materials and techniques of the past, the medieval village was again occupied year-round by many local families. Thanks to his former pastor, the association "Friends of Saint-Montan," and thousands of volunteers from around the world each summer to revive and rebuild brick by brick this exceptional site.
