Equestrian statue of Napoleon Ier in edge of the Road Napoleon (RN 85) and Lake of LAFFREY, in the Plain of the Meeting
It is a work of Frémiet, ordered by Napoleon III. This statue was on the Place of Weapons, today Place Verdun, in GRENOBLE. After the defeat of SEDAN in 1870, deteriorated, it is put at the wall cupboard with the deposit of the marbles, until the day when Paris and Grenoble dispute to have it. Paris wanted it for the entry of the Invalids and finally Grenoble, thanks to the tenacity of Marcel Deléon in 1929, obtained to make it set up in the center of the "Meadow of the Meeting " where Stendhal had planted a willow… It will on be inaugurated officially second once August 31, 1930.
