Photographer's Note
This is the classic, spectacular, unforgettable view of the Alps from Lac Blanc. On the right is the highest peak in the Alps, Mt Blanc. On the left is the Grandes Jorasses, and in between are the many needles and spikes of rock that tower above Chamonix. There are two lakes here, and I'm not sure which one is Lac Blanc, but neither is white. They are both a beautiful turquoise colour. On the left you can see the glacier called the Mer de Glace snaking its way down the valley. It is much smaller than it was only 30 years ago, and global warming will ensure that it continues to shrink.
This is a popular spot, although it is a good steep walk up from the top of the cable car. On a sunny day like this you will have to share the view with many other people, so I climbed up the hill a short distance to get away from the crowds and to get a view over the lakes.

Hello Vince,
An impressive landscape picture of Europe's highest parts.
A beautiful blue lake in the centre, sharp peaks on the left in the background and snowy tops on the right side.
I like the part with the curve of the glacier very much.
Rocks spread across the green slope make that the foreground doesn't look monotonous.
Best regards, Paul

Hi Vincent,
The colours of the lake are an eye-catcher. The point of view is showing the details of the mountains. The light is making the colours to stand out. Have a nice day.

Hi Vincent
more beautiful scenes from this area, these are great shots. smart idea to get away from the crowds, and to get a clear view of the water, the mountains and the glacier. We don't want to see many people walking around in the lower fg haha. lovely shot even in this harsh hot lighting. good one. cheers
