Photographer's Note
This "soldier" of a day was "playing" with his buddies the figurines under a tent displayed near the beach ( the battlefield). Waiting for the live demo to end so that he could explain children the role of horsemen in the battles.
But doesn't he look like a child himself?
I post a pic of a child to make a parallel if you don't mind ;o)
***************************************************
I'll never understand why children like playing with fake guns seeing themselves as small soldiers...why when they grow older, they play with videogame of war simulation and for the older ones or maybe the more meticulous, patient and passionate, why they play with figurines of ancient armies...
War is not a game, war is pain, war is sorrow, but it seems fascinating...mostly for boys and men...
As a girl I guess I could never understand it.

ABOUT THE THEME
After a period of exile spent in Elbe island, the fallen Emperor Napoleon land on the 1st of March 1815 from the "Inconstant" schooner at Golfe Juan. He'll reach Paris in 20 days and be welcomed as a Hero on his way by the armies sent by Louis XVIII to stop and arrest him.
The Napoleon route (N85) is today very busy and allow reaching Grenoble from Cannes by car, passing by all the villages where Napoleon went through.
This journey is called the Eagle flight (Le vol de l'aigle). It comes from a famous Napoleon statement " L’Aigle volera de clocher en clocher jusqu’aux tours de Notre-Dame".
ABOUT THE MANIFESTATION
On the 1st of March the Golfe-Juan city that saw Napoleon land organised an historical manifestion with a battle simulation where Napoleon soldiers fought against foreign soldiers.

"Men are old children"...
Mais non il ne s'agit que d'un de ses nombreux sosies (enfin presque).....(;

You have a good eye Prisley - this guy playing with his toys makes a great subject.
I think the shot would have worked better with a slight change to the framing though. Shifting the framing to the right (losing the unnecessary shoulder in the process) would have allowed you to the include more of the toy soldiers, which are really an essential part of the story here... more important than that shoulder anyway!
Getting him to look up, or at least waiting until his eyes were visible would also have created a stronger connection - on the other hand maybe we'd have lost that sense of absorbtion that you captured so well here.
I want to see the whole of his hat on that chair in the backround as well.
Small details perhaps, but I think they can make a big difference.
Cheers,
Ben
