CONVERSATION IN NICE is an art installation by Jaume Plensa on the Place Massena in Nice. It dates from 2007.

Seven translucent characters sit or squat in the manner of scribes of antiquity on metal poles about ten meters high. At night they light up and seem to interact.

They are said to symbolize the seven communities of the seven continents and the light represents the interaction between the different communities.

"Like the lighthouses on the coast, the figures seem to watch over us, protect us from above. Without disturbing the emptiness of the square, they invite us to look up and rediscover the sky of the city," says Jaume Plensa. (quoted in French wikipedia)

Olá Benny,
gosto desse tipo deimagem com o céu carregado, e aqui o contraste ficou forte com esses prédios dem coloridos. Curiosas as estátuas também.

Intéressante vue avec ces originales statues et cette palette de teintes, joli contraste entre les façades colorées et ce ciel gris et menaçant.

Les lumières que je préfèrent sont celles d'orage comme celles-ci . Bonne idée de composition avec les immeubles colorés et ces étonnantes sculptures.

Hello Benny,
It's a fascinating installation and the dark sky provides a perfect backdrop. The buildings match the figures well. I actually see six of them, so only one is missing.

Dag Benny,

Het weer dat boven de gebouwen aankomt voorspeld niet veel goeds.
Maar het contrast is zeker perfect geslaagd.
De standbeelden op de paal zijn wel een verrassing.
Maar toch een diepte foto.
Goed gedaan, bedankt.

Bonjour Benny,

J'aime de plus en plus ces ciels. Et dire qu'avant il fallait que le ciel soit bleu pour réussir une photo.Belle contre plongée qui le met bien en évidence.

Leuk om te zien dat Jaume Plensa hier hele figuren gebruikt en niet de voor hem karakteristieke platte hoofden. Wel een origineel idee om deze paalzitters de 7 gemeenschappen van de 7 continenten op deze manier met elkaar te laten praten. Ze hadden het hier waarschijnlijk over het slechte weer dat er aankomt.
Mooi gefotografeerd.

curious aspect of these sculptures and I liked the interaction of them with these colorful façades. nice contrast with the dark stormy sky too.
