Photographer's Note

I've been privileged to visit the famous French Riviera several times, thanks to my job in the cinema business. This time I was on holiday though and had more time to concentrate on daily life in this beautiful surroundings. The shot is taken in Nice, and it was originally in colour, but I converted it to B&W and added a touch of grain to give it a sort of retro look. You may judge if I was successful.

Hi Reijo,
Yes you did well with the post processing. For me it works! I definetly see the retro mood here. I particularly like the POV like real street photography...close to willy ronis work for instance. I rarely see pics of french riviera with such a singular view, putting atmosphere into the scene more than shooting a post card landscape.
I love it trully!

I really like this. For me it puts me in a classic Alfred Hitchcock film. You have Lee Remmick in hat glancing over at Cary Grant. Very moody. Thanks for sharing.....John

It is sucessful for me! Good framing and the gesture of the lady with her hat is delicate. I like also the boy basking in the sun on the pier.

Hello Reijo,

Its an incredible composition that you had performed here. the B&W and the woman's dress accentuate the so french atmosphere.
1 thing though. It seems that you've used a layer mask to darken/lighten some areas (mainland in the background, the water along the sea wall). the difference of enlightment is a bit visible but excessive.
