Photographer's Note

A photo from the Calanques near Cassis. This view is from a walking track to Calanque d'en Vau, the most spectacular of these limestone gorges that were invaded by the sea. It looks over the white limestone cliffs to the Ile Riou and the blue waters of the Mediterranean Sea. In the lower centre there is a small square-shaped hole, a natural window in the rock. Calanque d'en Vau is only accessible by walking track or boats and kayaks.

This is a very effectively used viewpoint!
The tall, eroded rocks in the f/g, act like a texturally rugged funnel, guiding us through the 'v' to the blue sea and the rocky island.
Lovely f/g sharpness, to create this sense of depth.
