Photographer's Note

The rue du Taur (in Occitan : Carrièra del Taur), formerly called rue de Claustre is a street of Toulouse, which runs from Place du Capitole to the Basilica of St. Sernin.

According to La Dépêche du Midi (a local newspaper), the section of the street formerly named rue de Claustre owed its name to the organization of the buildings located in the immediate vicinity before the revolution of the abbey church of Saint Sernin, with its cloister and its ancillary buildings that formed at the time a claustrum or monastic community.

It is about 350 metres along. Towards the far end near Place du Capitole stands the church of Notre-Dame du Taur, whose thin brick tower can be seen in the background of this picture.
