When I prepared my stuff to go camping for one week in the Pyrénées, I thought of making night shots so I took a small tripod. I woke up (to pee!) and discovered this splendid landscape, I set up my gear: wide angle 10 mm, high ISO 3200, wide aperture f4, exposure time 30s, camera on tripod of course. I was really surprised by the result as the atmosphere was so pure at 1400 meters high. It took me time to sleep again that night!

Exceptional result, Claude, and taken well the night opportunity for a sight like this.
The outcome despite a 3200ISO is superbly shown with the silhouette of the mountain contour-lines.

*** In case you would not take a tripod, my suggestion would be to place the camera on a flat rock, face upwards.

En effet c'est superbe, très bon résultat pour une style de photo qui ne semble pas évident à réaliser a priori, bon effet avec les silhouettes des crêtes et un parfait format vertical, bien fait.

Wonderful illumination of the starry starry night that we could count millions of stars and terrifying distances beyond comprehension, and this screeches to a halt in the back of your eye! You have used available light and highest ISO sensitivity with sensible result when this remained sharp in focus, gorgeous in the true sense and worthy of your effort braving the extreme weather condition. It so peaceful to look, you’ve summed it up in your write up above. Hats off!

Well captured shot. I have a rather similar taken in the Austrian Dolomites. Photographing stars, staying out in the evening is always a great fun.
