Photographer's Note

View on the road to Gavarnie-Gèdre ski station. The ensnowed summit over the vally is Tuco d'Alans (2,145 meters height), most known as Le pain de sucre (i.e. Sugarloaf Mountain, the same as Rio de Janeiro !). After the ski station, the road continues to Col de Tentes (Tentes Pass), 2,208 meters height, which is the departure point for walks to Port de Boucharo pass or Brèche de Roland over the Cirque of Gavarnie. In summer only, because the road is closed on winter ! And it was still closed at spring when I was there because of snow.
