The Fayet castle, in Fayet commune, of the 16th century, was built around 1577 at the Renaissance period, probably on the site of a medieval castle of XIIème siècle. The seigniory of fayet, related to that of Brusque, nearby, was successively that of the Viscounts of Albi, Béziers, Carcassonne, the counts of Toulouse, and at XIVème siècle the lords of CASTELNAU-BRETENOUX which made build the current castle.

Refitted at 18th and 19th centuries, it is now a private residence. The castle is registered with the historic buildings since 2004.

The building has the form of a parallelogram, with four towers at the angles, and a fifth which shelters a spiral staircase.

In the court of the castle, one can see a monumental well of 16th century, built in 1564 on the initiative of Guy de CASTELNAU-BRETENOUX. Classified with the historic buildings since 1931.

Henri de Navarre, the future roi de France Henri IV, would have remained in the castle of Fayet.
