Photographer's Note

In the Tarn countryside near Castres, spring sky and clouds ...

- Who do you like better, enigmatic man, eh? your father, your mother, your sister or your brother?
- I have neither father nor mother, sister, or brother.
- Your friends?
-You use there a word whose meaning has stayed with me until unknown.
- Your country?
- I do not know in what latitude it is situated.
- Beauty?
- I would gladly, goddess and immortal.
- Gold?
- I hate it as you hate God.
- Eh! what do you love, extraordinary stranger?
- I love the clouds ... the clouds that pass ... there ... there ... the wonderful clouds!

The poem by Charles Baudelaire Abroad: Small prose poems, I (1869)
