The Goya Museum is a unique Hispanic art museum in France , with the creation in Spain from antiquity to the twentieth century. It is located in an old Episcopal house of classical architecture of the seventeenth century whose plans were designed by Jules Hardouin - Mansart , an architect of Versailles.

This is the legacy of Pierre Briguiboul in 1894, son of a painter and collector Castres in Castres City determines its Hispanic vocation by bringing the museum three paintings of Goya. In 1949, the prestigious Louvre deposits have confirmed this Hispanic orientation. Since the acquisition policy of the City and the museum regularly enriches this remarkable collection. The purchase of the Gaudí series Joan Miró embodies the desire to strengthen the field related to the twentieth century.

The Goya Museum also holds in its collections, the four sets engraved Goya. But they are presented to the public only occasionally during temporary exhibitions for conservation reasons .
