Photographer's Note

A very successful visual checkerboard alternating Thyme, Fescues, Houseleeks, sedums and charcoal Carmaux in "The Garden of Paradise" at the foot of the medieval town of Cordes sur Ciel in the Tarn.

The Garden of Paradise was established in 1998 by Eric Ossart and Arnaud Maurières, landscape architects and artists, leaders of the new wave of garden design, in line with the International Garden Festival at Chaumont sur Loire. They wanted to create a fun garden and gave free rein to their imagination. Composed of a permanent structure, the garden also implements an annual theme, visible in the garden (type of plants, decorative items), as in the museum area of the garden.
In late 2002 the creators of the garden wanted to pursue other occupations. Cordes Development Association then resumed the garden and continues to do live by staying true to its original spirit.

This garden is designed as a series of enclosures, since the word paradise, of Persian origin, meaning enclosure, enclosed garden. It evokes in turn the exotic, including the exuberance visible banana upon arrival from the terrace; the medieval garden, by the presence of Plessis and willow woven and vegetable garden square, or Andalusian tradition, through the many pots and the presence of water (fountains, buckets, basins ...).
All the senses are awakened during the visit. The hearing by listening to the flowing water bucket bucket or pouring noisily into the fountain with carp. View a juxtaposition of colors, materials and textures. Touch: different textures of leaves, contact with different materials ground cover (sherds slate chips) ... Smell smelling different herbs, spices or flowers scented evocative, or by the olfactory route which is to find the composition of a mystery flavor. And taste, a cocktail made from flowers, munching an apple at the end of the summer, or participating in the unique themed buffet of summer.
A space museum hosts the annual renewed exposure. Since 2005 a collection of seeds from different countries, is shown to the public.
