The street of the Loge connects the Place de la Comédie, Comédie square, to the place of the Prefecture. It was opened at the XIXe century on the initiative of the mayor, Jules Pagézy, inspire by work of the Baron Haussmann in Paris.
With the 19 (a) of the street of the Loge is the site of the house where was born Saint-Roch, patron saint of Montpellier. Of this house, there remains only one well with curative alleged water.
With the angle of the street of the Loge and street of the treasurers of France, is the house of Rondelet, friend and shelterer of Rabelais at the time of his arrival in Montpellier in 1530, to follow studies there to the medical school.

Montpellier is the chief town of the Languedoc-Roussillon Area, populated of 244 300 (in 2005), Montpelliérains and Montpelliéraines, distributed on 57 km², is 3 963 hab/km². The urban surface is populated of 531 000 inhabitants.
