Photographer's Note

Jean-Pierre Cros-Mayrevieille (1810-1876) is a historian and journalist carcassonnais emblematic safeguard of the city. He discovers in 1839 the tomb of the bishop Guillaume Radulphe in the southern vault of the old cathedral and requests near the proper authorities the protection of the building to the title of the Historic buildings. Its historical and archaeological research leads in particular in 1850 to the publication devoted to the military and religious Monuments of the city of Carcassonne. One bust-carried out of bronze the representative is in the City on the place of the castle comtal and can be seen by all the tourists who notice especially the miniature representation out of bronze of the ramparts which decorates the column the portrait of Cros-Mayrevieille.
