Photographer's Note
- In the Northeast of the island, the region of Castagniccia, wild and nice, shelters near the village of Piedicroce, the ruins of the old convent Saint-François of Orezza, become famous during the war of independence where it was the bastion of the opposition to Genoa, in 1790 he saw meeting between Pasquale Paoli, emblematic personage of Corsica and Bonaparte. It should be destroyed by the Germans in 1943 which mined it and blew it up, it's today disadvised to go for a walk there.

bell eprise, bonne note

Great photo.
And about blasting of the monuments and beautiful buildings during the WW II - I really thought they did it only in eastern Europe. But now I see it otherwise.
SO MUCH perished during that war, thinking about it (and still seeing the ruins in different places) makes me really angry, but well... It's history.
