The village of olmeto overlooking the Valinco gulf , where died in 1861 at the age of 96 Colomba Carabelli, 1775-1861, inspiration of Prosper Mérimée, 1803-1870, the author of Colomba, on 1841, his famous novel inspired by the terrible vendettas during the 19th century, in Fozzano, and in Sartène.

Colomba Carabelli was born in Fozzano, where is her tomb.

OLMETO is a French municipality, placed in the department of Corse-du-Sud, region of Corse, populated with 1239 inhabitants in 2007, distributed on 43.8 km², that is to say 28.3 hab/km².
