Photographer's Note

While making you discover the width of the damage caused by the important fire of CALENZANA, I continue the tour of Balagna's villages with a pic of LAVATOGGIO. The disaster, I remind it, destroyed 1700 hectares of vegetation without fortunately causing losses in human lives and dwellings.
This delightful small village (97 inhabitants) located at 230 m of altitude, under the plateau of Bocca di SALVI (Collar of SALVI – 509 m), is to approximately 10 km in the east of CALVI and to 4 km of the coast.
Historically, one will note the foundation in the year millet of the fortress of BRACAJO which one can see the armorial bearings on the Sainte Ursule vault of the church.
The flames have obviously encircled the village and the population found refuge in the church.
