Photographer's Note
Saint-Émilion is one of the principal red wine areas of Bordeaux along with the Médoc, Graves and Pomerol. The region is much smaller than the Médoc and adjoins Pomerol. As in Pomerol and the other appellations on the right bank of the Gironde, the primary grape varieties used are the Merlot and Cabernet Franc, with relatively small amounts of Cabernet Sauvignon also being used by some châteaux.
Saint Émilion wines were not included in the 1855 Bordeaux classification. The first formal classification in Saint-Émilion was made in 1955. Unlike the 1855 classification, it is regularly revised.

Hello Philippe,
Excellent point of view on this beautiful wine village that produces equally beautiful wines. The pleasant ambient light makes it resurge from the surrounding greenery with the church tower offering a lovely focal point. Perfectly exposed with superb colours and clarity. Unfortunately, a bit too early for a fortifying glass of red:-)

Bonjour Philippe,

Bonjour Philippe.
A lovely photo of this delightful village in this wine region, one which has not been spoilt by commerce. You have captured the winter sunshine very well, and composed the shot so that the surrounding green and rolling fields provide a beautiful setting for the buildings.
Regards,
Andrew

Hi, Philippe,
Wow! Just a postcard! Or it could be a postcard from the tourists in this area. Thanks for this interesting note, I prefer Merlot and Cabernet to other kinds of grape. Excellent picture, thumbs up! Best wishes, Serghei

Hello Philippe,
This is a very well exposed and a very well composed photograph.
The town of St. Emillion, is crisp and clear and stands out clearly from the surrounding trees.
Wine produced at St. Emillion is of a high quality ... even if expensive inEngland!
Have a lovely w/e,
Bev :-)
