Photographer's Note
I was very lucky that I had marvelous weather in Versailles. It was cold, the ponds were frozen, but it was sunny. In the Palace there were many tourists but later in the gardens of Trianons it was very quiet.
Here the northern facade of Petit Trianon.
It was designed by Ange-Jacques Gabriel by the order of Louis XV for his long-term mistress, Madame de Pompadour, and was constructed between 1762 and 1768.Madame de Pompadour died four years before its completion, and the Petit Trianon was subsequently occupied by her successor, Madame du Barry.
Upon his accession to the throne in 1774, the 20-year-old Louis XVI gave the château and its surrounding park to his 19-year-old Queen Marie Antoinette for her exclusive use and enjoyment.
The château of the Petit Trianon is a celebrated example of the transition from the Rococo style of the earlier part of the 18th century, to the more sober and refined, Neoclassical style of the 1760s and onward. Essentially an exercise on a cube, the Petit Trianon attracts interest by virtue of its four facades, each thoughtfully designed according to that part of the estate it would face.

Hello Malgo,
The winter weather you had here was fantastic indeed. The bright light brought out the colours so well, they're very well saturated. A lovely view of the gardens of the famous palace.

Hello Malgo,
The panoramic frame was a good choice putting the emphasis on the palace and using the water course as a lead-line and to create depth. The winter light is very attractive indeed bringing out the colours and architectural detail to perfection.

Hi Malgo
A really interesting presentation of this famous palace, and a unique one too. Normally the gardens are much more formal and the man made element much stronger, but here the natural environment takes prominence softening the opulence of the palace very well. Nicely done
Cheers

Hello Malgo,
How very wise of Louis XV to have another mistress so this beautiful building would not have been left unused. ;-) You found a good place for this photo where the building is seen between the trees, on line with the river. The light and colours are wonderful.
Kind regards,
Gert

Buona domenica

Hello Malgo,
Were it not for the naked branches, I would think this was late spring!
The light is glorious pepping up the colours, creating long shadows and making reflections in the water.
You have used the line of the path and the waterway as effective guides and it is fitting that the chateau is situated centrally, between the two guides.
A lovely, well composed shot.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hello Malgo,
What a beautiful day in Versailles! Although I prefer my subjects off-center, I find the location of the building in the middle of the frame to be most agreeable here. Well done!
