Paris, business area of La Défense (west of the french capital).

among the about sixty permanent pieces of art present on the district, the Red Spider by Alexander Calder is one of the most emblematic.

created in 1974 by the american sculptor and painter, it was set on the Parvis de la Défense in 1976, year of Calder's death. it's on the foot of Plade Défense building, under the Total (the oil firm) tower.

This kind of sculpture was called "Stabile" by Calder. We can see other examples in Chicago ("the Flamingo"), Jerusalem, Hanovre...
