Bastille Day Fireworks, a photo from Ile-de-France, North

Photographer's Note

Bastille Day in Paris is the national day of celebration. In the morning a military parade along the Champs Elysee, in the evening a firework display beside the Eiffel Tower. This is the third year that I have been to watch the fireworks and the first with a camera. Though I actually live next to the Eiffel Tower I chose a more remote vantage point (a) to avoid the crowds which gather on the Champs De Mars, (b) to get a better perspective on the event. This years firework display was supposed to represent the olympics (multi-coloured rings) but, to be honest, it didn't come out clearly what the fireworks were supposed to show. Not as impressive as previous years, but still good all the same.

We had an insert on the news the other day about this spectacular fireworks display. Very nice to see it here on TE as well. They said that all the fireworks was white symbolizing peace, is that true? A bit of a note will be nice next time. But this is a very good photo of this night seen. Good timing as well. Very nicely done.

The "Old Lady" looks magnficent here! Great fireworks shot. I like the fact that you resisted centering the tower. Was it intentional or just "instinct"? (just wondering)

Belle réussite, David! Avec la tour Eiffel au premier plan, sur un fond coloré par de multiples fusées. L'image est bien nette et le cadrage parfait. Un bien joli tableau, bravo!

Great picture! It looks realy very good. I was there, very close Eiffel Tower and didnt succed to make such beautiful photo.

Superbe realisation David. Meme si ce feux d'artifice n'etait pas aussi beau que les annees passees, cela reste toujours une magie de voir notre belle dame de fer parmi toutes ces couleurs.

Pour la prise de vue...Mystere! Dome des invalides? Vu l'angle, le champs de Mars en 1er plan, vous etes dans cette partie de Paris, ou Montparnasse vu le tele que vous semblez utiliser!

WOW i have been to paris and i didn't managed to get to the eiffel ower(that's the problem with 1 day trip)
this picture makes it feel like i went all the way there.
