Photographer's Note

i often like roofs. from a paris apartment of a friend, i looked out on residential paris near the alexandre dumas metro station. paris is a glorious, glamourous city, with low buildings and napoleonic architecture, and language that sings with conversation, a population many of whom refuse or are reticent to speak english. i wander about the city, pointing when i am in stores, holding my hand open with currency for the merchants to help themselves, with my impression that most of them are honest with me.

the intrigue of roofs seems to be a combination of geometric design, colors, and a fascination of the multiplicity of human stories within the apartments and homes below.
