Paris, France...
Notre-Dame de Paris...
After ascending staircase (255 steps), you enter the chimeras gallery, 46 metres above the ground, so called after the statues adorning the corners of the balustrade. These creatures, designed by Viollet-Le-Duc in the 19 century, are fantastic birds, hybrid animals and mythical monsters perched on the towers of Notre Dame.
Chimera - ornamental sculpture not to be confused with gargoyle, which is a projecting feature designed to drain rainwater.
