Photographer's Note

This photo was taken in August of 2003. This was my first day in Paris (what a beautiful city), and it was also during a record heat wave. We didn't know it at the time but after the trip we were sad to learn that over 10,000 people (mostly elderly) died during the heat wave. The temperatures during those first two weeks of August reached above 40 degrees Celsius, or 104 degrees Fahrenheit.

Taken with my old Pentax camera at dusk, using Kodak Gold 100 film, and scanned with a Nikon Coolscan 5000 ED. Edited in Photoshop CS2 to correct the colors.
